MH Stories 3 Gene Bingo Guide — Maximize Stats & Damage

MH Stories 3 gene bingo bonuses multiply your damage when you align genes correctly. Learn how to create Bingo lines and stack bonuses for devastating builds.

What Is MH Stories 3 Gene Bingo?

A Gene Bingo occurs when three genes of the same attack type (Power, Speed, or Technical) or the same element (Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Dragon, Non-Elem) form a straight line on the 3x3 gene grid. MH Stories 3 gene bingo grants damage bonuses: same attack type gives a 5% boost to that type's attacks; same element boosts elemental damage. The more Bingo lines you create, the stronger your monstie becomes.

MH Stories 3 gene bingo is the core of min-maxing. Use the Rite of Channeling to rearrange genes and create optimal Bingo configurations.

Types of Bingo Lines

The 3x3 grid has eight possible Bingo lines: three horizontal, three vertical, and two diagonal. Here's a text-based view of the grid (slots A1–C3):

A1 — A2 — A3 (row 1)
 | | |
B1 — B2 — B3 (row 2)
 | | |
C1 — C2 — C3 (row 3)

Horizontal: A1-A2-A3, B1-B2-B3, C1-C2-C3
Vertical: A1-B1-C1, A2-B2-C2, A3-B3-C3
Diagonal: A1-B2-C3, A3-B2-C1

Attack type bingo: three Power, Speed, or Technical genes in a line. Element bingo: three Fire, Ice, Thunder, Water, Dragon, or Non-Elem genes in a line. MH Stories 3 gene bingo can be either type—plan your grid to maximize both when possible.

Multiplicative Stacking in MH Stories 3

A major change from Monster Hunter Stories 2: in MH Stories 3, multiple gene bingo bonuses stack multiplicatively. Two Bingo lines don't add (e.g., 5% + 5% = 10%). They multiply (e.g., 1.05 × 1.05 = 1.1025, about 10.25% total). Three Bingos multiply further. This makes MH Stories 3 gene bingo optimization extremely rewarding—every additional line compounds your damage.

Prioritize creating as many Bingo lines as possible while still including useful active and passive genes. The genes overview and best builds show how top players achieve four or more Bingos on a single monstie.

Rainbow Gene Strategy — Center Slot (B2)

The Rainbow Gene acts as a wildcard: it counts as any attack type and any element for Bingo purposes. Placing it in the center slot (B2) is optimal because B2 is part of four lines: the middle row, the middle column, and both diagonals. With the Rainbow Gene in B2, you can complete up to eight MH Stories 3 gene bingo lines—every possible line passes through the center.

Surround the Rainbow Gene with genes that share attack type or element. For example, put three Power genes in the top row (A1, A2, A3) and three Fire genes in the left column (A1, B1, C1). The Rainbow Gene in B2 fills the gap for lines that need one more matching gene. See our best builds for concrete examples.

Example MH Stories 3 Gene Bingo Builds

Power-focused build: Fill the top row and left column with Power-type genes. Place Rainbow Gene in B2. You get at least two Power Bingos (row 1, column 1) plus potential diagonals. Add a few elemental genes in remaining slots for element Bingo if your monstie uses elemental attacks.

Element-focused build: For a Fire monstie, use three Fire genes in row 2 and three in column 2. Rainbow Gene in B2 completes both. Add passive genes like Fire Attack (XL) in corners for extra damage. MH Stories 3 gene bingo works best when you align genes with your monstie's natural strengths.
